Toyota desloca parte da produção do Corolla GR para o Reino Unido

Toyota is transferring part of the production of its sports car Corolla GR to the United Kingdom and will invest $56 million, about €49.246 million, in a dedicated production line to increase exports to North America.

The “Reuters” reported this Monday that in this way, Toyota aims to utilize the excess capacity in the UK to help reduce the waiting time for delivery of the model, according to sources contacted by “Reuters,” who made it clear that the measure is not a response to the tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump on automobile imports.

It is worth noting that Trump recently announced a reduction in tariffs on automobile imports from the UK to 10%, for up to 100,000 vehicles per year.

Toyota produces the Corolla GR in Japan for the Japanese market and for export to North America and other markets. However, it has not been able to meet the North American demand.

In this way, the Japanese automaker will set up a production line at the Burnaston factory in Derbyshire to produce 10,000 cars annually for export to North America starting in mid-2026.
