Volvo assina parceria para reduzir tempo de carregamento de veículos elétricos em 30%

Volvo has been betting on an investment strategy in small companies that develop technology that can enhance the capabilities of their vehicles and has just partnered with Breathe Battery Technologies (Breathe) to have access to the latest version of their charging software that can reduce battery recharging time (from 10 to 80%) by up to 30%.

The UK-based company uses algorithms to manage the charging process. While traditional 100% electric vehicles keep their batteries safe with a staggered charging program that uses predetermined rules, Breathe’s technology can dynamically control the flow of energy in real time.

“The investment and commercial partnership with Breathe help us solve a familiar problem for electric car customers and make our charging performance even more competitive,” says Ann-Sofie Ekberg, CEO of Volvo Cars Tech Fund. “Faster charging times, in the range where customers usually charge quickly, represent a big step in the right direction as we continue to drive electric mobility and make it available to more people.”

Volvo has revealed that it is the first automaker to make use of Breathe’s technology, which will be available in the next generation of 100% electric models from the Swedish brand, and that when the new technology is available, other improvements will be possible.
