The issue of how to properly penalize track limit violations in Formula 1 has once again become a topic of controversy. Recently, news of a revised penalty for drivers who go off track and gain an advantage was released, but the shortcomings of this updated punishment were quickly exposed during the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Kevin Magnussen, who had already been penalized, exceeded track limits to overtake Yuki Tsunoda and ended up blocking the chasing pack. In our latest video, we analyze the recent changes, highlighting the misplaced focus of the rules, the potential dangers of allowing teams to “spend” penalties, the questionable sportsmanship of Haas, and the necessary measures to address this issue.
