Max Verstappen Exposes Monaco GP Chaos: F1 Cars Outperformed by Formula 2

Max Verstappen Blasts Monaco Grand Prix as F1 Cars Struggle to Make Moves

In a shocking revelation, Max Verstappen has slammed the Monaco Grand Prix, claiming that Formula 1 cars can barely overtake Formula 2 cars on the narrow streets of Monte Carlo. The Red Bull driver highlighted the lack of overtaking opportunities due to the significant speed difference between the two categories, with pole position in F1 being a staggering 11 seconds faster than in Formula 2.

Despite ending the race in an impressive fourth place, Verstappen raised concerns about the limited chances for overtaking during the event. Even with fresher tires, Lando Norris was unable to close the gap and pass Verstappen in the final laps of the race, showcasing the challenges of overtaking at the iconic street circuit.

The Monaco Grand Prix saw a new experiment this year, mandating two pit stops for all drivers, in an attempt to spice up the on-track action. However, Verstappen was not convinced of its effectiveness, stating, “You can’t race here anyway, so it doesn’t matter what you do, one stop or 10 stops.”

In a humorous take on the situation, Verstappen likened the race to a video game, suggesting that F1 was more like Mario Kart than a serious motorsport competition. “Honestly, we were almost doing Mario Kart!” Verstappen joked, adding, “Then we’ll have to install bits on the car, maybe you could throw bananas around [and create] a slippery surface.”

Verstappen’s candid comments have reignited the debate on the excitement and competitiveness of the Monaco Grand Prix, with many fans and experts questioning the spectacle of the race on the tight and twisty streets of Monte Carlo. As the F1 season progresses, all eyes will be on the sport’s governing body to address concerns raised by top drivers like Verstappen regarding the future of racing in Monaco.
