Oliver Bearman Under Fire: FIA Probe Raises Stakes Ahead of Monaco GP

Oliver Bearman in Hot Water with FIA After Monaco GP Drama

Young driver Oliver Bearman finds himself in the crosshairs of the FIA stewards following the recent Monaco Grand Prix. The Haas driver has been summoned to face the stewards due to an incident that occurred before the race, raising concerns about safety on the track.

Bearman was flagged and subsequently placed under investigation for being released from the pit-lane for the reconnaissance laps to the grid in what was deemed an “unsafe condition.” This typically implies that some equipment was left attached to the car as it exited the garage, with reports indicating that leaf blowers were discovered in the sidepods.

In such circumstances, the FIA stewards commonly opt to penalize the team with a fine rather than issuing a sporting penalty directly to the driver. Consequently, Bearman will be relegated to the 20th and final position on the starting grid, courtesy of a 10-place penalty for overtaking Carlos Sainz under red flags in Free Practice 2.

The controversial overtaking maneuver by Bearman occurred on the approach to Rascasse, with the driver justifying his actions by deeming it safer to pass the slow-moving Williams rather than abruptly hitting the brakes. Notably, both Sainz and Franco Colapinto managed to escape penalties for similar offenses in FP2 and FP3, respectively, as they did apply the brakes, but the momentum of their cars carried them past slower vehicles.

The Monaco Grand Prix continues to deliver excitement both on and off the track, with incidents like Bearman’s facing scrutiny and adding to the drama of the prestigious event. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the FIA investigation unfolds.
