Red Bull’s Mystery Plunge: Marko Uncovers Verstappen’s Monaco Qualifying Nightmare

Red Bull Fails to Keep Up with McLaren and Ferrari in Monaco Grand Prix Qualifying

In a shocking turn of events at the Monaco Grand Prix, Red Bull faced a perplexing situation as their pace lagged behind their rivals McLaren and Ferrari during qualifying. Helmut Marko, the motorsport advisor for Red Bull, expressed his confusion over the team’s performance compared to their competitors.

Despite a challenging start, Max Verstappen managed to climb up to second place in the second practice session. However, the real struggle came during qualifying, where Verstappen had to settle for a disappointing fifth place on the grid, a significant seven-tenths behind the leader.

Marko admitted that the Red Bull car lacked the necessary grip during the crucial moments of the qualifying session, particularly struggling in the last sector where the car began to slide uncontrollably. The team was left puzzled as to why they lost so much pace compared to their expectations.

“We don’t know exactly ourselves,” Marko revealed. “We just didn’t have the necessary grip at the crucial moment. The car started sliding more and more, especially in the last sector.”

Despite the setback, Verstappen remained the top-performing Red Bull driver, with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda falling short and getting eliminated in Q2, starting provisionally from the 12th position on the grid.

Marko explained that Tsunoda was without the full upgrades package due to his crash at Imola, causing disruptions to the parts structure planned for both cars. With Max Verstappen taking priority for the available upgrades, Tsunoda had to revert to the previous setup, hindering his performance in Monaco.

As Red Bull aims to bounce back from their Monaco Grand Prix qualifying woes, all eyes are on the team to analyze and rectify the issues that held them back in the prestigious street circuit.
