FIA Slams Lance Stroll with Harsh Penalty Points in Monaco Clash Drama

The FIA’s hammer strikes Lance Stroll again!

In a shocking turn of events, the FIA has confirmed additional punishment for Lance Stroll following his collision with Charles Leclerc during practice at the Monaco Grand Prix. Stroll has been handed one penalty point on his F1 superlicence, bringing his total to three within the current 12-month window.

The incident occurred early in FP1 at Monte Carlo, resulting in Stroll’s session ending prematurely due to rear-suspension damage and necessitating a gearbox change. The FIA stewards unequivocally blamed Stroll for the crash, imposing a one-place grid penalty for the upcoming race on Sunday.

Stroll’s woes continue to mount as he faces the risk of a race ban under the strict penalty system introduced in 2014, with drivers facing a ban upon accumulating 12 penalty points. Stroll’s clash with Leclerc marks his first penalty points of the F1 2025 season, with his most recent offense taking place at the Qatar Grand Prix last year.

In a dramatic twist, Aston Martin’s Oliver Bearman has also been reprimanded, receiving penalty points for overtaking under red flags during FP2 in Monaco. Bearman, set to serve a 10-place grid penalty for the race, now totals four penalty points on his superlicence.

Meanwhile, the reigning four-time World Champion, Max Verstappen, maintains his lead in the F1 disciplinary chart with eight penalty points. However, Verstappen is yet to incur any penalty points in the current season.

As the FIA cracks down on driver conduct, the high stakes of Formula 1 continue to escalate, leaving fans on the edge of their seats as the drama unfolds on and off the track.
