Red Bull’s Monaco Nightmare Unveiled: Marko Exposes Shocking Cause Behind Team’s Struggles

Red Bull Racing Faces Setback at Monaco Grand Prix

In a shocking revelation, Red Bull adviser Helmut Marko unveils the root cause behind the significant performance gap experienced by Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda during the initial practice sessions at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Austrian stalwart suggests that the reigning constructors’ champions erred in their approach to setting up the RB21 for the demanding circuit in Monte Carlo.

Despite Verstappen achieving the second and tenth fastest times in the sessions, Tsunoda struggled, only clinching the 14th and 11th positions. Marko hints at a setup miscalculation similar to the struggles faced by the team at the Circuit de Monaco in the previous season. The RB20 faltered on the bumpy and curbed track, indicating a recurring issue that the team has grappled with for over a year.

Marko acknowledges the challenges but remains optimistic about the RB21’s strong performance in long runs. However, he anticipates fierce competition from Ferrari, the team to beat at Monaco last year. “The setup was probably wrong,” Marko expressed, pointing out Max Verstappen’s battle with understeer. He emphasizes the need to strike a balance to eliminate understeer without overcompensating.

Despite the setbacks, Marko sees a glimmer of hope, highlighting the RB21’s impressive long-run capabilities. The team’s ability to rectify setup issues was evident at the Imola Grand Prix, where Verstappen secured a resounding victory. As the Monaco Grand Prix unfolds, all eyes are on Red Bull Racing as they strive to overcome their setup challenges and outperform their rivals on the iconic streets of Monte Carlo.
