Oscar Piastri’s Rollercoaster Day in Monaco Grand Prix Practice Sessions
Australian driver Oscar Piastri found himself in a rollercoaster of emotions during the Monaco Grand Prix practice sessions. The championship leader experienced highs and lows, admitting to a chaotic day filled with challenges and a costly mistake.
Piastri, determined to reclaim the top spot on the podium after finishing third in Imola, faced a tough day of trials in the streets of Monaco. Starting off in fifth place in the FP1 session, he climbed up to second in the FP2 session. However, his momentum was disrupted when he made an error entering the Sainte Devote corner, causing a temporary halt to the practice session.
Despite damaging the front wing of his McLaren, Piastri managed to get back on track after a pit stop for repairs. In a post-session interview, he acknowledged the day’s difficulties, describing it as “a bit complicated, up and down.” He expressed his struggles, mentioning, “I think, especially for me, it’s been a very chaotic day.”
Piastri also noted the impressive performance of Ferrari, admitting, “I clearly think that Ferrari is going much faster here than they ever have.” Looking ahead, he emphasized the need to reset and learn from the challenges faced during the practice sessions.
