NASCAR Rivalry Heats Up as Ryan Blaney Cheers for Kyle Larson’s ‘Double’ Attempt

In a surprising turn of events, NASCAR star Ryan Blaney has publicly shown support for his rival, Kyle Larson, as Larson gears up for his second ‘Double’ attempt over the Memorial Day weekend. Blaney, from Team Penske, extended his well wishes to Larson, hoping for a smoother and more successful experience this time around.

Blaney, in an interview with Fox News, revealed his plans to watch both the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix and the IndyCar Series’ Indianapolis 500 before hitting the track himself for NASCAR’s Coca-Cola 600. The 27-year-old driver expressed admiration for Larson’s ambition to tackle the challenging feat of racing 1,100 miles at Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Charlotte Motor Speedway back-to-back.

Reflecting on Larson’s attempt last year, which was marred by inclement weather, Blaney emphasized his eagerness to witness Larson’s determination pay off this time. Despite not attempting the ‘Double’ himself yet, Blaney hinted at the possibility for the future, given Team Penske’s presence in the IndyCar Series.

The action-packed weekend will see the Indy 500 kick off at 12:45 p.m. ET, followed by the Coca-Cola 600 at 6:00 p.m. ET on Sunday, with Prime Video covering NASCAR’s longest race. Both Blaney and Larson enter the Coca-Cola 600 as top contenders in the points standings, adding an extra layer of competition to the mix.

Moreover, fellow Team Penske driver Josef Newgarden expressed his desire to see Ryan Blaney take on the challenge of the ‘Double’ in the future, showcasing the camaraderie and competitive spirit within the team. Despite Newgarden’s penalty affecting his starting position in the 2025 Indy 500, he remains optimistic about potentially joining Blaney in the Coca-Cola 600 down the line.

The bond between Blaney and Newgarden extends beyond the racetrack, with Blaney even inviting Newgarden and IndyCar teammate Scott McLaughlin to his wedding ceremony last December, highlighting the strong relationship between the drivers outside of the intense racing environment.

As anticipation builds for the thrilling weekend ahead, fans are eager to see how the dynamic between Blaney, Larson, and Newgarden will unfold both on and off the track. Stay tuned for all the adrenaline-pumping action as these NASCAR titans prepare to showcase their skills in the ultimate test of speed and endurance.
