Helmut Marko Slams Monaco Grand Prix as a Farce: Claims Leclerc Slower than F3 Cars in 2024

In a shocking revelation, Helmut Marko, the 82-year-old advisor of the Red Bull Racing Team, has unleashed a scathing critique of the iconic Monaco Grand Prix, labeling it as a mere farce in the world of Formula 1. Marko did not hold back as he compared the performance of Charles Leclerc in 2024 to that of Formula 3 cars, emphasizing the lackluster display by the Ferrari driver.

Amidst the backdrop of Red Bull’s resurgence in the championship battle, with Max Verstappen leading the charge, Marko expressed his discontent with the prestigious Monaco race. He boldly stated, “The Monaco Grand Prix is a farce. Last year, Leclerc and Sainz were at times slower than Formula 3 cars.” Marko’s words shed light on the challenges posed by the unique street circuit in Monte Carlo, where speed takes a back seat to precision and strategy.

Furthermore, Marko’s assessment extended to the recent success of Red Bull at the Imola Grand Prix, where Verstappen secured a commanding victory. The seasoned advisor highlighted the significance of the win in boosting team morale and instilling confidence in the Dutch driver. Marko emphasized, “For the first time in a long time, Max Verstappen did not complain about the car’s drivability. Our strategy, setup, and car management were top-notch, outperforming McLaren.”

Addressing speculations regarding Christian Horner’s future with the team, Marko dismissed rumors of the team principal’s potential departure. He clarified, “I honestly don’t know where this nonsensical rumor came from. Everything has now changed, and we are focused on the upcoming challenges.” Marko’s unwavering demeanor and candid remarks provide a glimpse into the inner workings of the Red Bull Racing Team amidst the fierce competition in Formula 1.

As the championship battle intensifies, Marko’s bold statements and unfiltered opinions offer a unique perspective on the sport’s landscape. With Red Bull’s resurgence and Verstappen’s stellar form, all eyes are on the team’s quest for glory and the challenges that lie ahead in the unpredictable world of Formula 1.
