Italian Grand Prix Tracks Monza and Imola to Receive Over €40 Million in Government Funding

In a groundbreaking move, the Italian government has allocated a staggering €40.25 million for the iconic Formula 1 races at Monza and Imola until 2032. While Monza secures its future in Formula 1, Imola also gets a piece of the pie with €5.25 million earmarked for the 2025 race.

The approval of the “Infrastructure” decree law by the Council of Ministers has brought smiles to both Imola and Monza, as they gear up to host the Italian legs of the Formula 1 World Championship. This financial injection will see over €40 million poured into the organization of these prestigious events, with €5 million allocated annually from 2026 to 2032.

Tullio Del Sette, the extraordinary commissioner of Aci, emphasized the significance of this funding, stating, “The allocation of funds for the organization of the two Italian Formula 1 races sends an extremely important signal.” This move underscores the government’s recognition of the economic impact of these Grand Prix events on their respective regions, as well as the promotion of the image and products of Italy globally. Del Sette also commended ACI for its commitment to ensuring a future for Italian motorsport that is worthy of its extraordinary legacy.

Meanwhile, sub-commissioner Giovanni Battista Tombolato highlighted the economic importance of Monza and Imola, stating that they “represent two extraordinary economic drivers for the region and the entire country, with a total annual economic impact of nearly €600 million.”

This substantial government funding not only secures the future of these historic tracks but also cements Italy’s position as a powerhouse in the world of Formula 1. As Monza and Imola gear up to host thrilling races in the years to come, this investment ensures that the Italian Grand Prix remains a cornerstone of the Formula 1 calendar, delighting fans and drivers alike.
