Mercedes has already announced that it will revise the goal of selling exclusively electric vehicles in key markets by 2030 and in that sense will continue to update its range of combustion engines until the next decade.
The «Autocar» now reports that due to the electrification strategy review, the German brand will no longer discontinue the A-Class, as initially planned, and will extend its lifecycle until 2026.
Recall that in February, Mercedes CEO Ola Källenius revealed that price parity between combustion and purely electric cars is still far from being achieved and in that sense the German brand is preparing for a reduction in demand for electric vehicles in the near future.
Thus, and as reported by the specialized publication in the automotive sector, Mercedes is working on a new range of compact cars that will feature combustion engines. In addition, the CLA, CLA Shooting Brake, GLA, and GLB will start using a recently developed MMA platform that will use combustion engines, as well as 100% electric powertrains.
