Red Bull Racing: Is Yuki Tsunoda on the Chopping Block?
Former Formula 1 champion Jacques Villeneuve sounds the alarm for Yuki Tsunoda, suggesting that his days at Red Bull Racing might be numbered. With rising star Isack Hadjar impressing the team, Tsunoda’s position could be in jeopardy.
Tsunoda recently replaced Liam Lawson as Max Verstappen’s teammate, but his performance has left much to be desired. Despite being given a chance to prove himself, Tsunoda has struggled to match Verstappen’s dominance on the track, scoring only seven points compared to Verstappen’s 88.
The pressure mounted on Tsunoda after a crash at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix left Red Bull in a precarious spare parts situation. Helmut Marko, Red Bull’s top advisor, emphasized the need to support Tsunoda despite the setbacks.
However, Villeneuve believes that Red Bull might not show the same patience they have in the past. He points to Isack Hadjar as a potential replacement for Tsunoda, citing the young driver’s impressive performance at the Imola race where he finished ninth.
While Red Bull’s team principal, Christian Horner, commended Tsunoda’s recovery drive in the latest race, the Japanese driver needs to up his game to secure his position in the team. With Hadjar waiting in the wings and showing promise, Tsunoda’s future at Red Bull Racing hangs in the balance.
As the F1 season progresses, all eyes will be on Tsunoda to see if he can rise to the challenge or if Red Bull will make a bold move to secure their lineup for the future.
