Verstappen attributed his performance to the choice of Pirelli’s soft C6 tires, suggesting they might have been too aggressive for the track. In his own words, “The softer compound is very difficult to keep alive during the lap… It was good in the first sector, but then the tires started to drop off, just a bit. It was alright, but George did his lap on the mediums, so maybe the softs were too soft for this track.” Verstappen expressed a preference for the medium tires, feeling more comfortable with them.
Looking ahead to the race, Verstappen emphasized the importance of focusing on scoring points on race day. He remained optimistic about the team’s performance, hoping for improved stability in the car and better tire management.
