Italian Youngster Antonelli Disappointed with 13th Place Finish: “Nothing Worked Today”
In a shocking turn of events at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Italian driver Andrea Kimi Antonelli faced bitter disappointment as he landed in 13th place during qualifying, failing to make it to Q3 in his home race at Imola. While his Mercedes teammate, George Russell, secured a spot in the second row with the third-fastest time, Antonelli struggled to find his pace, leaving him with a lackluster performance.
Expressing his frustration, Antonelli confessed to reporters, “I didn’t feel like anything was working today. Compared to FP3, I lost a lot of time, and it seemed really difficult to gain and improve. We need to figure out what happened, but today was definitely tough because I didn’t have any confidence in the car.”
One of the major challenges Antonelli faced was managing the C6 tire, which posed difficulties for many drivers on the grid. Antonelli admitted, “It’s definitely not an easy tire, and there were some differences compared to FP3. I didn’t have the same grip as in the previous practice sessions, and I need to understand what happened.”
As Antonelli reflects on his disappointing performance and looks ahead to the race, all eyes will be on whether he can turn the tables and make a comeback on race day. Stay tuned for more updates on this gripping saga at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
