Alpine Advisor Shatters Expectations: No Limits Set for Franco Colapinto’s F1 Races

In a shocking turn of events, Alpine advisor Flavio Briatore has dropped a bombshell regarding Franco Colapinto’s upcoming Formula 1 races, completely dismissing the initial plan for just five races starting from the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. Briatore declared, “there’s no set limit on his races,” contradicting previous announcements made by the team.

The Argentine driver was supposed to replace Jack Doohan for five races, with the possibility of an extension based on performance. However, Briatore’s latest statements have thrown a curveball into the mix, indicating that Colapinto’s racing future is open-ended. “Franco will race as much as needed,” Briatore emphasized. “He needs to be fast, not crash, and score points. If he does them well, he will drive forever.”

Moreover, the sudden swap between Doohan and Colapinto came amidst another surprising development within the team. Team principal Oliver Oakes resigned for “personal reasons,” following a legal issue involving his brother William Oakes. William Oakes faced charges of “transferring criminal property” after being found with a large sum of cash, resulting in his remand in custody.

Despite the organizational upheaval, Briatore remains unfazed, stating, “the organizational chart has shifted a bit, but everything else stays the same.” He also clarified his role, indicating that while he is not officially recognized as the team principal by the FIA, he will be “covering the duties previously performed by Oakes.”

As the drama unfolds within the Alpine team, all eyes are now on Franco Colapinto as he gears up for an uncertain number of races in the upcoming F1 season. Stay tuned for more updates on this gripping saga in the world of motorsport.
