Formula 1 Driver Pierre Gasly’s Close Encounter with Wildlife at Emilia Romagna Grand Prix
In a bizarre turn of events at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix, Formula 1 driver Pierre Gasly had a unique incident during the first practice session when he collided with a large rabbit that had made its way onto the track, causing damage to the front wing of his car.
Despite the unexpected disruption, the mechanics at Alpine were able to swiftly repair the car in time for the second session, where Gasly showcased an impressive performance by finishing third – the only driver within three tenths of the leading McLarens. Gasly commended the team’s progress, noting a significant improvement compared to the previous race in Miami.
“I couldn’t avoid it, so I had a big impact on the front wing. But it was a very, very good Friday. From the first lap, I could see that the car was much better than in Miami. I am pleased that we were able to address some of the question marks we had after the last race.”
