Alpine F1 Boss Oakes Plans to Close Gap to Formula 1’s Top Teams

Former F1 powerhouse returns to the racing scene amidst controversy

In a shocking turn of events, former Alpine boss Oliver Oakes has made a striking comeback to the racing paddock following his abrupt departure from the Formula 1 team. Oakes was recently spotted in the Formula 2 and Formula 3 support paddocks, where he has resumed his role as a director of Hitech GP, a junior team making waves in the motorsport world.

The comeback comes on the heels of a tumultuous period for Oakes, as his brother William made headlines for all the wrong reasons. William Oakes was arrested during the Miami Grand Prix weekend on charges of “transferring criminal property,” leaving the racing community in disbelief. Despite no allegations implicating Oliver in his brother’s legal troubles, he chose to step down from his position at Alpine and flew to Dubai, steering clear of the escalating situation.

While some may have thought Oakes would lay low after the scandal involving his brother, he has defied expectations by resurfacing in the paddock, albeit in a different capacity. As a director of Hitech GP, Oakes will be overseeing operations in the Formula 2 and Formula 3 series, showcasing his unwavering commitment to the team amidst personal turmoil.

Hitech GP, co-directed by both Oakes brothers, is a prominent figure in various racing series, including Formula 2, Formula 3, GB3, Formula 4 British, Formula Winter, and F1 Academy. The team’s presence in Imola alongside Formula 1 this weekend marks a significant moment for Oakes, who, despite resigning from Alpine, still holds the title of team principal, with Dave Greenwood stepping in as the acting principal for the time being.

Oakes’ return to the motorsport scene has undoubtedly raised eyebrows, but his dedication to Hitech GP remains resolute. The racing world is abuzz with speculation and intrigue as Oakes navigates through turbulent waters to reaffirm his standing in the high-octane realm of Formula racing.
