The president of Stellantis, John Elkann, denied rumors of a merger between the company and the French Renault, which have resurfaced in recent days.
According to “Reuters”, Elkann, speaking at the “FT Future of the Car Summit” in London, stated that the two companies are not discussing any merger, noting that this is not the first time rumors about a possible merger between the two companies have emerged.
It is worth recalling that the initial rumors surfaced in October 2024, amid Stellantis’s financial difficulties and increasing competition in the automotive sector.
Stellantis is currently involved in the process of appointing a new permanent CEO, who will take over from Carlos Tavares, who left the company at the end of 2024.
The special committee of Stellantis’s board of directors, led by John Elkann, has already announced that the selection of the new CEO will be completed by the end of the first half of this year.
