We have made progress compared to last year, with the W16 being a more balanced machine. We have achieved solid results so far, but there is still work to be done if we want to compete for wins.“
In a bold move to dominate the track, Wolff announced that Mercedes would introduce a series of upgrades not only at the Imola race but also in the upcoming European Grand Prix. „We will implement several upgrades over the next few races. In F1, it’s all relative, and we know our competitors will also make progress. It will be interesting to see how the situation unfolds on the track,“ Wolff stated.
Amidst the anticipation of fierce competition, Wolff also touched upon the significance of Imola for Mercedes‘ rising star, Andrea Kimi Antonelli. Hailing from Bologna, near Imola, Antonelli is gearing up for his first home race as a full-time Mercedes driver. Wolff acknowledged the special occasion, noting, „This will be Kimi’s first home race. It’s an emotional moment for him, but ultimately, it’s a race worth 25 points like any other. George and Kimi will focus on achieving the best possible results on the track.“
