Nissan has decided to suspend operations at some factories in Japan as part of the company’s restructuring efforts, according to the economic newspaper “Nikkei” reported this Tuesday.
The same source indicates that details about which specific factories will be affected and whether the suspension will be temporary or permanent are expected to be known later.
It is worth noting that on Monday, Japan’s public television channel, “NHK,” announced that the third largest automaker in Japan will cut more than 10,000 jobs worldwide, raising the total number of layoffs, including those previously announced, to about 20,000, or roughly 15% of its workforce.
