Sebastian Vettel Ready to Take Over Red Bull Throne from Helmut Marko!

Former F1 champion Sebastian Vettel is stirring up speculation about a possible return to Red Bull, this time as the successor to the legendary Helmut Marko. While no formal discussions have taken place, Vettel has hinted at the idea of stepping into Marko’s shoes when the time comes.

Marko, the driving force behind Red Bull’s success for over two decades, recently mentioned Vettel as his “ideal successor” once he decides to retire from his current role. The 82-year-old Austrian, who signed a contract extension until 2024, sees Vettel as a fitting candidate to carry on his legacy.

Vettel, who clinched four consecutive World Championships with Red Bull from 2010 to 2013, has kept in touch with Marko even after his departure to Ferrari. The 37-year-old driver expressed openness to potentially playing a role in the succession plans at Red Bull, acknowledging that the time will inevitably come for a changing of the guard.

In an interview with Austrian outlet ORF, Vettel shared, “As far as the topic of succession is concerned, it’s not yet as intensive or as in-depth, but that is perhaps something that could play a role.” While Vettel recognizes the monumental task of filling Marko’s shoes, he also highlighted the invaluable contributions Marko has made to the team since 2005.

Former F1 driver Johnny Herbert endorsed the idea of Vettel taking over from Marko, praising Vettel’s potential for the role. However, Herbert also pointed out the challenges Vettel might face due to the extensive travel and time commitment required, especially considering Vettel’s responsibilities as a father of three.

The prospect of Vettel succeeding Marko has sparked excitement within the F1 community, with many seeing it as a natural progression in the Red Bull hierarchy. As discussions and speculations continue to swirl, all eyes are on Vettel and Marko to see how this potential transition unfolds in the high-octane world of Formula 1.
