Team WRT BMW Roars Back to the Racing Scene with High Hopes
In a jaw-dropping move, Team WRT has unveiled its cutting-edge headquarters in Liege, Belgium, signaling a new era for the championship-winning team. Co-founder Vincent Vosse set the tone for the future, declaring, “The previous chapter is over, and we start again. Can you imagine not winning from here?”
The sprawling new headquarters in Bierset, just outside Liege, spans over 20,000 square meters, consolidating all racing and manufacturing operations under one roof for the first time. This monumental step sets the stage for Team WRT’s next phase of domination in motorsport.
With the headquarters project wrapped up to perfection, the spotlight now shifts to the BMW factory Hypercar team gearing up for the 6 Hours of Spa on Saturday. Eyes are set on securing the M Hybrid V8’s first overall victory in the World Endurance Championship, following a remarkable second-place finish at Imola last month.
Despite facing Balance of Performance adjustments for the upcoming race, including added weight and reduced power limits, drivers like Rene Rast remain undeterred. Rast acknowledged the challenge posed by faster competitors but exuded confidence in the team’s ability to maximize their performance on the track.
The atmosphere within the WRT program has undergone a significant transformation over the past year, with operational improvements and advancements in the M Hybrid V8 making it a more driver-friendly machine. Driver Raffaele Marciello highlighted the enhanced drivability and increased confidence in the car, paving the way for a more competitive edge on the circuit.
As the team braces for the Spa-Francorchamps race, notable absences in the driver lineup, including Dries Vanthoor and Sheldon van der Linde, present opportunities for Kevin Magnussen, Raffaele Marciello, Robin Frijns, and Rene Rast to shine on the track. The reshuffling of drivers aims to showcase the team’s depth and adaptability in the face of challenges.
Racing at Spa holds special significance for Team WRT, being their home turf and a symbol of national pride. The team’s unwavering focus on maximizing performance at every race reflects their dedication to achieving top results and ultimately clinching the championship title.
With an unwavering commitment to pushing boundaries and seizing victories, Team WRT BMW stands poised to make a triumphant return to the racing scene, setting the stage for an electrifying showdown at Spa and beyond.
