BMW has announced the start of production of the new generation BMW 5 Series Touring at the Dingolfing factory in Germany. The new model is the first premium vehicle in its segment to feature not only gasoline, diesel, or plug-in hybrid propulsion, but also a fully electric motor.
It is already known that the i5 Touring will arrive in Portugal in June, with prices starting at €79,000 for the eDrive 40 version, with a 340 hp electric motor and an 81.2 kWh usable capacity battery, allowing for up to 560 km of range.
At launch, there is also the i5 Touring M60 version, starting at €118,500, with two electric motors, one on each axle, all-wheel drive, and a combined power of 601 hp, with a range of up to 506 km.
The model supports fast charging up to 205 kW (just 10 minutes to add an additional 149 km of range to the BMW i5 eDrive40 Touring), featuring a « Max Range » mode that optimizes system performance and allows for up to 25% battery savings.
It is already known that access to the range will be through a 4-cylinder, 2-liter diesel engine, electrified with 48V hybrid systems to reduce consumption and exhaust emissions: 520d (197 hp). In the second phase of the launch, a more powerful diesel and two Plug-In hybrids (PHEV) will be available, with 289 hp and 489 hp, both capable of traveling up to 100 km in EV mode.
Depuis le lancement de la première génération, la Série 5 Touring a toujours été produite dans l’usine de Dingolfing, d’où sont sorties jusqu’à présent plus de 1,2 million d’unités.
Tout comme son prédécesseur, la nouvelle BMW Série 5 Touring, quelle que soit la motorisation, sera produite de manière flexible aux côtés de la BMW Serie 5 Berline et des modèles BMW Série 4 et Série 6, tous sur la même ligne de production.
