Alpine revela nova configuração técnica na Fórmula 1 com saída de pessoal chave.

The Alpine Formula 1 team has implemented a new and innovative technical structure, with the departure of key figures Matt Harman and Dirk de Beer from the Anglo-French organization. This decision comes after a difficult start to the 2024 season, as the team has struggled with their revamped car compared to the previous year’s performance. From fourth place in the constructors’ championship in 2022, Alpine dropped to sixth place last season. Hoping to improve their position, the team made significant changes to their A524 charger for the 2024 season. However, the Bahrain Grand Prix revealed the immense challenge they face, as Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly qualified at the back of the grid.

To address this disappointing start, Alpine has chosen to adopt a three-pillar technical structure, similar to McLaren’s approach last year. They have introduced Joe Burnell as Technical Director of Engineering, David Wheater as Technical Director of Aerodynamics, and Ciaron Pilbeam as Technical Director of Performance. These changes coincide with the departures of former Technical Director Matt Harman and Chief Aerodynamicist Dirk de Beer, who are seeking new opportunities.

The three members of the new technical team will report directly to Alpine Team Principal Bruno Famin, who took on the role full-time this season. Famin has expressed the need for organizational changes, recognizing that the team is not performing at the desired level. He believes that the new three-pillar structure, with each Technical Director specializing in different areas, will improve collaboration and contribute to better performance.

Famin expressed his full confidence in Joe, David, and Ciaron to work closely together and deliver the necessary improvements for the team. He also thanked Matt and Dirk for their contributions to the team and wished them success in their future endeavors. The three new technical leaders will work alongside Eric Meignan, Technical Director of the Power Unit division based in Viry.

Furthermore, the team has appointed John Woods as the new CEO of the Enstone division and Audrey Vastroux as the CEO of the Viry division.
