Aston Martin Crisis Deepens as Alonso Voices Concern Over Lack of Pace
The latest Grand Prix weekend in Miami proved to be yet another nightmare for the struggling Aston Martin team. Despite a stroke of luck, the British outfit faced a challenging time at the Hard Rock Stadium. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll found themselves not only finishing the race at the back but also being lapped by their competitors, including Nico Hulkenberg in the Sauber.
The dismal performance highlighted the ongoing struggles of the team, showcasing a significant lack of competitiveness on both the technical and sporting fronts. Just a couple of seasons ago, Aston Martin was seen as a contender against the dominant Red Bull team, but now they are at the bottom of the standings, failing to score any points.
Speaking about the disappointing race, Fernando Alonso admitted, “It was a tough race, and we didn’t have the right pace throughout the weekend. We were expecting a challenging Grand Prix. We faced similar challenges to what we have had all season and couldn’t capitalize despite the chaos ahead of us. We need to improve and hope to take a step forward at Imola.” The Spanish driver also had a minor spin during the race, causing him to lose valuable positions early on.
Lance Stroll echoed Alonso’s sentiments, stating, “The conditions were tough, and the race was as we expected. We simply lack the pace because we have been slow all season, and here was no exception. It was a race without any major issues but also without real opportunities, proving that we are not competitive and need to improve the car in practically all areas.”
With Aston Martin’s performance continuing to falter, questions loom over the team’s ability to turn their season around and emerge as a serious contender in the upcoming races.
