In a shocking turn of events, Charles Leclerc finds himself trailing behind the Williams team in a disappointing qualifying round in Miami. The Monegasque driver expressed hope for upcoming updates to turn the tide in his favor after a challenging Saturday on the track.

Facing setbacks from the start, Leclerc was visibly disheartened after missing out on the Sprint race due to an incident during the alignment lap. Despite being the only Ferrari driver to secure a spot in the top-10, he struggled in the qualifying session, ultimately landing in eighth place behind both Williams cars.

Speaking to Sky Sport F1, Leclerc revealed his utmost effort in pushing the SF-25 to its limits. However, he hinted at encountering some peculiar issues with his car, possibly stemming from the rush to make last-minute adjustments before qualifying. The driver mentioned, “Today in qualifying, there was something strange on my part. We were completely off in terms of balance in Q1, and we didn’t make all these changes. We need to review everything because, obviously, it wasn’t an easy day for anyone, especially [the mechanics] in their swift efforts to get the car ready.”

When questioned about the anomalies affecting his performance, Leclerc remained cautious in his assessment, suggesting that significant changes might have played a role or there could be unidentified errors in play. Amid speculations, the driver emphasized the need for upgrades to enhance their competitiveness on the track. Leclerc expressed, “Upgrades? In Q2, I already struggled immensely to make it to Q3. Today played out this way. This weekend has been very tough, and on a track like this, we are even behind Williams. In a standard qualifying round, it’s not that they got lucky and we were unlucky. They had normal laps, just like us. We struggle a lot in the slow corners, as is apparent for now. I hope the updates will aid us.”

As Leclerc pins his hopes on forthcoming enhancements, the Ferrari team faces a critical juncture in their pursuit of performance improvements to challenge their rivals. Will the updates be the game-changer Leclerc needs to outpace the competition, or are there deeper issues plaguing the team’s quest for success? Only time will tell as the racing drama unfolds in Miami.
