In a thrilling Sprint Qualifying session at the 2025 Miami Grand Prix, tensions ran high as drivers battled it out on the track for a chance at pole position. With all eyes on the Miami International Autodrome, the competition was fierce from the get-go.

The session kicked off with a bang as Jack Doohan raised concerns about an unsafe release from Liam Lawson in the pitlane. Max Verstappen wasted no time setting the pace with a blistering 1:27.953 on the medium compound tire, only to be outdone by Lando Norris who edged ahead by 0.063 seconds. Meanwhile, Kimi Antonelli showcased Mercedes’ dominance by claiming the top spot with a time 0.032 quicker than Norris.

The battle for supremacy continued as Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton fought for position, with Leclerc narrowly avoiding disaster by tapping the wall at Turn 16. As the clock ticked down, tensions rose in the drop zone with Gabriel Bortoleto and Yuki Tsunoda facing elimination.

Ultimately, it was Tsunoda who failed to make the cut after a lock-up into Turn 17 compromised his lap. The session also saw Lance Stroll, Doohan, and Bortoleto bowing out, much to Doohan’s dismay who expressed frustration over a pit lane mishap with his teammate Gasly.

As the dust settled, George Russell emerged as the fastest driver, followed closely by Antonelli and Alex Albon. The stage is now set for an electrifying main race at the Miami Grand Prix, where these drivers will go head-to-head once again in a battle for glory. Stay tuned for more updates as the drama unfolds on the tracks of Miami.

Kimi Antonelli took his first pole position in qualifying for the Sprint race, just ahead of the two McLaren drivers. Yuki Tsunoda failed to get out of SQ1
