From Sidekick to Sensation: Felix Rosenqvist’s Epic Journey to IndyCar Team Leader

Felix Rosenqvist (60) talks to reporters during a media availability session at The Thermal Club IndyCar Grand Prix in Thermal, Calif., Friday, March 21, 2025.

Racing Sensation Felix Rosenqvist Dominates Ahead of 100th IndyCar Start

As the roaring engines and the smell of burning rubber fill the air at Barber Motorsports Park, all eyes are on Felix Rosenqvist, the fearless driver of the No. 60 Meyer Shank Racing Indy car, set to mark his 100th NTT IndyCar Series start this weekend.

In a heart-pounding interview with the media, Rosenqvist expressed his disbelief, stating, “It feels a bit unreal, to be honest. It kind of brings you back a little bit to when you were a kid, you were dreaming about driving in IndyCar.” With a gleam in his eye, he continued, “One hundred is a big number. That’s a lot of hours in the car (smiling). No, it’s cool. It’s cool. As I say, it’s nothing that I take for granted. I think it’s literally the coolest job in the world you can have.”

The adrenaline junkie has been off to a flying start this season, securing three consecutive top-10 finishes and currently holding the impressive fourth position in the standings. Rosenqvist himself acknowledges the team’s progress, stating, “It’s been solid. We haven’t really had any bad weekends. We definitely stepped up a bit from last year… I think it’s always how you maintain that through the season.”

What sets this season apart for Rosenqvist is the technical partnership with Chip Ganassi Racing, a shift from their previous collaboration with Andretti Global. This change seems to have paid off, with Rosenqvist noting, “We know we’ve had speed, which we had all year, all season, last year. We probably were one of the strongest qualifiers in the field. We maintained that part this year. But I feel like we’re better in the races.”

With a positive outlook on the upcoming race at Barber Motorsports Park, Rosenqvist exudes confidence, declaring, “I’m not going to tell you that I’m going to go and win Barber. There’s nothing really saying we couldn’t… I think we’re definitely now a podium contender consistently.”

As fans eagerly anticipate the thrilling race weekend, all eyes will be on Rosenqvist as he gears up to make his mark in his 100th IndyCar start, poised for victory and glory on the track.
