Mexico F1 Race Secures Exciting New Deal – Will Sergio Perez Make a Triumphant Return to the Grid?

In a groundbreaking move, Formula 1’s Mexico race has inked a fresh three-year agreement, solidifying its position on the calendar until 2028. However, the burning question on everyone’s minds remains: Will Sergio Perez, the beloved Mexican driver, grace the track once again?

Perez’s departure from Red Bull at the end of 2024 has left fans speculating about his future participation in the Mexico City event. With Perez absent, this year’s race marks the first time in the modern era without a home driver, potentially impacting the race’s atmosphere and attendance.

Despite the void left by Perez, the new multi-year deal signifies a commitment to the race’s economic viability and long-term success. The Mexico City Grand Prix, renowned for its extensive promotion and government support, stands as a testament to modern F1 events, even though the circuit may not offer the most riveting races.

While Perez’s future in F1 remains uncertain, his potential comeback could inject new life into the sport in Mexico. The driver himself expressed eagerness for a meaningful project, especially with regulatory changes on the horizon for 2026.

As Perez explores his options, the emergence of the Cadillac team presents a compelling opportunity. With several experienced drivers vying for a spot, including Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen, and Zhou Guanyu, Perez faces stiff competition. However, team boss Graeme Lowdon hinted at considering talented drivers off the current grid, opening doors for Perez’s potential return.

Aside from Perez, Mexico’s hopes also rest on IndyCar sensation Pato O’Ward. While O’Ward’s ties to McLaren as a reserve driver offer a glimmer of hope, securing a permanent F1 seat remains a formidable challenge with existing long-term commitments within the team.

With the Mexico F1 race securing its future through 2028, the spotlight now shifts to whether Sergio Perez will stage a triumphant comeback, igniting the passion of fans and solidifying Mexico’s presence in the world of Formula 1.
