Naomi Osaka pede a Novak Djokovic para iniciar conversas entre os principais atletas como Lewis Hamilton sobre o envolvimento da Arábia Saudita no esporte: será que acontecerá?

Lewis Hamilton recently expressed his strong opinions on Saudi Arabia’s acquisition of sports. The fear that Saudi Arabia will take over the world’s major sports is a concern shared by many athletes and fans. The country has made significant investments in various sports and aims to become the new global sports center. Numerous athletes have expressed opposition to this development, and Lewis Hamilton is among them.

During a press conference before the 2024 Indian Wells, Naomi Osaka was asked if she would discuss the risks of Saudi Arabia dominating sports with Lewis Hamilton. In response, she cleverly suggested that if such a conversation were to take place among athletes from different sports, someone like Novak would be the ideal representative for tennis players.

Osaka admitted to having limited knowledge about the overall situation and specific comments made by Lewis Hamilton. She humorously mentioned that she often gets into trouble over these issues. However, she found it funny that people assumed she was friends with Hamilton.

When Formula 1 returned to Saudi Arabia last season, Lewis Hamilton was one of the few athletes who openly opposed the country’s increased involvement in various sports, albeit with some hesitation. Hamilton’s strong opposition was based on the well-known human rights concerns in Saudi Arabia.

In 2023, Hamilton stated: “I don’t believe we should be racing in places with human rights issues, and I think it’s important that we take a stand.” Despite his reservations, Hamilton is still required to participate in the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix this season. It is important to note that the GP ends on Saturday.
