Dacia atinge 8 milhões de unidades produzidas

The Dacia factory in Mioveni is the historical birthplace of the brand, having been inaugurated in August 1968 with the launch of the Dacia 1100 model under the Renault R8 license.

The well-known production unit of the Romanian brand produced its 8 millionth vehicle this Tuesday, a Bigster Journey hybrid 155 in Indigo Blue.

During the first three decades of the Mioveni factory’s existence, production was dominated by the family of models developed under the Renault 12 license. The Dacia 1300/1310 models and their derivatives (1310 Sport, 1320, 1325, Pick-Up) were manufactured between 1969 and 2006, with a production of nearly 2.3 million units, of which 319,000 were commercial vehicles.

In 1995, a new generation of models, entirely designed in Romania, was launched under the name Dacia Nova. Based on this model, Dacia later developed the SupeRNova (in the fall of 2000) and the Solenza (in the spring of 2003).

The acquisition of the Mioveni factory by the Renault Group in 1999 opened a new chapter in the history of the Romanian brand, which, with the launch of the Logan model in 2004, became an internationally present manufacturer.

In the 57 years since the production of the first Dacia vehicle, six generations of models have rolled off the assembly line at the Mioveni factory. The production record belongs to the Duster model. Launched in 2010 and already with three generations, more than 2.6 million units have been produced at the Mioveni factory.

The latest model to enter production at Dacia’s factory is the new Bigster, the brand’s first C-SUV. Even before the start of deliveries, the Bigster has already received over 13,000 reservations across Europe.

It is worth noting that Dacia is present in 44 countries across four continents, with Western Europe accounting for more than 70% of the brand’s total sales.
