In a shocking turn of events, Formula E bids farewell to its long-standing race director, Scot Elkins, marking the end of an era in the electrifying world of motorsports.

Elkins, known for his unwavering dedication and profound impact on Formula E, recently officiated his final race in Miami amidst heartfelt farewells and genuine respect from drivers, promoters, and team principals. His departure at the end of 2024 comes as a personal decision, following the passing of his father and a shift towards focusing on his family’s farming business.

Throughout his tenure, Elkins navigated the intricate web of Formula E’s unique challenges, from organizing back-to-back races during the pandemic to overseeing the implementation of game-changing innovations like attack mode and qualifying systems. His meticulous approach and profound understanding of the sport have left an indelible mark on Formula E’s history.

As Elkins passes the baton to his successor, Marek Hanaczewski, the future of Formula E race officiating hangs in the balance. With new regulations and faster cars on the horizon, the seamless transition to a new race director is crucial for the championship’s continued success.

Hanaczewski’s baptism by fire in Sao Paulo, where unexpected incidents tested his mettle, proved his capability under pressure. Elkins, confident in his successor’s abilities, believes Formula E is in good hands with Hanaczewski at the helm.

Looking ahead, the electrifying world of Formula E stands at a crossroads, poised for evolution and growth under new leadership. Elkins’ departure marks the end of an era but paves the way for fresh perspectives and innovations in the ever-changing landscape of electric racing.

As Formula E gears up for a new chapter, Elkins’ legacy as a respected and revered race director will endure, shaping the future of the sport for years to come.
