Chase Briscoe Struggles to Keep Up with Joe Gibbs Racing Powerhouse

In the high-octane world of NASCAR, Chase Briscoe is facing an uphill battle to find his footing within the powerhouse that is Joe Gibbs Racing. Despite the partnership making strides every weekend, Briscoe admits that he is still far from hitting his stride with the No. 19 Bass Pro Shops team.

Taking the wheel of the No. 19 car this season under the guidance of crew chief James Small, Briscoe has encountered his fair share of challenges. From early-season penalties to a constant learning curve with the new car, the young driver is candid about the team’s current status. Briscoe expressed, “I still feel like we’re not 100 percent… I don’t feel like I’m firing on all cylinders yet.”

Currently sitting in 13th place in the championship standings, Briscoe has managed to secure four top-10 finishes, with a recent impressive fourth-place finish at Bristol Motor Speedway. However, the road ahead is filled with intermediate races at tracks like Texas, Kansas, and Charlotte, where Briscoe will need to adapt quickly to make his mark.

Transitioning from Ford to Toyota cars this season has posed a significant challenge for Briscoe, especially on mile-and-a-half tracks, which are crucial in the NASCAR season. Reflecting on the differences, Briscoe noted, “On the mile-and-a-halfs… the biggest difference is, and we just haven’t run a lot of them yet this year.”

While Briscoe is determined to find his winning form, he acknowledges the pressure of watching his teammates, Christopher Bell and Denny Hamlin, secure victories. Balancing the desire to win with giving his team time to adjust to the new partnership is a tough act for Briscoe. He commented, “I want to win, especially when your teammates have been winning… It just takes a little bit of time for us to find that balance.”

As Briscoe gears up for the upcoming races, including stops at Nashville Superspeedway and Michigan International Speedway, fans are eager to see if he can overcome the challenges and emerge victorious. With determination and perseverance, Chase Briscoe is on a mission to carve his path to success in the competitive world of NASCAR.
