In a groundbreaking move that has sent shockwaves through the Formula 1 world, the Mexico City GP has secured its future with a contract renewal that will keep the race roaring at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez until the thrilling finale of 2028.

The head of government in Mexico City, Clara Brugada, made the exhilarating announcement during a press conference, unveiling that the highly anticipated agreement with F1 is set to be inked imminently.

Brugada’s bold declaration has confirmed that negotiations with Formula 1’s management have reached a successful conclusion, paving the way for an electrifying future for the Mexico GP.

This monumental contract extension follows a series of successful renewals for the beloved Grand Prix, ensuring its continuity under a privately funded model. Since federal support was withdrawn in 2018, the event has been sustained by local organizers and private stakeholders through a dedicated trust fund, demonstrating unwavering commitment and passion for the sport.

Despite the departure of Mexican racing sensation, Sergio Perez, who has been a cornerstone of the Mexico City Grand Prix, the event’s organizers remain undaunted. Ticket sales strategies have evolved to attract a diverse fanbase from across the Americas and beyond, reducing dependency on a single driver for the event’s success.

The Mexico City GP has captivated audiences worldwide with its pulsating action, vibrant ambiance, and remarkable commercial prosperity since its return to the F1 calendar a decade ago. The race has not only solidified its status as a fan favorite but has also played a pivotal role in fueling F1’s expansion in the Americas.

As the countdown begins towards the official signing of the contract renewal, anticipation and excitement are reaching a fever pitch among motorsport enthusiasts, eager to witness the Mexico City GP continue its legacy as a thrilling and unmissable event on the Formula 1 calendar.
