The automotive group Stellantis will invest a record €5.6 million in South America between 2025 and 2030 to support its business strategy.

In a statement, the company revealed that the record investment for the South America region aims to leverage the “launch of more than 40 new products, as well as the development of new bio-hybrid technologies, innovative decarbonization technologies throughout the automotive supply chain, and new strategic business opportunities”.

Regarding bio-hybrid technologies, Stellantis advances that they combine electrification with hybrid engines powered by biofuels (ethanol) at three different levels.

The Stellantis unit in Betim, Brazil, is the company’s global center of expertise for Bio-Hybrid technology, continuing its legacy of innovation. In the future, the company announced that the region will also produce a 100% electric vehicle.

The production of the first vehicles equipped with Bio-Hybrid technology is flexible and can be integrated into various models manufactured by Stellantis. Furthermore, it is compatible with all of the company’s production lines in the region.

Stellantis also advanced that the new hybrid technologies, which include Bio-Hybrid, electrified dual-clutch transmissions Bio-Hybrid (eDCT), Bio-Hybrid Plug-In, and BEV (100% electric), will start to be available by the end of 2024.

“This announcement solidifies our confidence and commitment to the future of the South American automotive industry and is a response to the favorable local business environment”, said Stellantis CEO, Carlos Tavares.
