McLaren’s Director: “Norris and Piastri have what it takes to win the championship”

In a shocking revelation from McLaren’s Operational Director, Piers Thynne, it has been declared that both Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri possess the extraordinary talent needed to become world champions. Thynne, who has had the privilege of working with three world champion drivers during his time at McLaren, believes that the current lineup at the team has what it takes to reach the pinnacle of motorsport success.

Having been a part of McLaren since 2008, Thynne witnessed Lewis Hamilton clinch the championship in his debut season with the team. He then went on to collaborate with Jenson Button, who secured the championship in 2009. Now, Thynne sees the potential in Norris and Piastri to follow in their predecessors’ footsteps and bring home more glory to McLaren.

As McLaren’s competitiveness continues to soar, with their recent Constructors’ Championship win, the focus is now on their drivers who are leading the charge in both the team and driver standings. With Piastri and Norris showing exceptional skills on the track, the possibility of a championship title is within reach for McLaren.

Thynne, in a recent podcast appearance, highlighted the similarities between the current drivers and past champions, emphasizing that both Norris and Piastri have the necessary qualities to win races and championships. Despite their slightly different career trajectories, Thynne is confident that with the right support and resources, they can achieve greatness in Formula 1.

Reflecting on the evolution of Formula 1, Thynne acknowledged the shift towards more complex cars and races, requiring a different level of preparation from the drivers. With advancements in technology and a younger generation of racers entering the sport, the landscape of Formula 1 has transformed significantly. Thynne stressed the importance of providing the drivers with the right tools and strategies to navigate the intense competition and excel on the track.

As McLaren continues to push for success in the highly competitive world of Formula 1, Thynne’s insights shed light on the team’s dedication to supporting their drivers and maximizing their potential. With Norris and Piastri at the helm, McLaren’s quest for championship glory seems more promising than ever.
