Renowned figures in the motorsport world have expressed their support for Malcolm Wilson’s potential candidacy as the FIA deputy president for sport. The announcement, made by FIA president Mohammed Ben Sulayem, has generated positive reactions from drivers and industry insiders alike.

Thierry Neuville, a world champion driver who previously worked with Wilson at M-Sport, commended Wilson’s business acumen and determination, stating, “I respect Malcolm a lot for his business and fighting spirit that he has always shown throughout so many years.” Neuville also expressed confidence in Wilson’s ability to navigate any potential conflicts of interest that may arise from his dual roles.

Elfyn Evans, who achieved his first WRC victory under Wilson’s leadership, praised Wilson’s unparalleled experience and deal-making skills, wishing him success in his new endeavor. Similarly, Ott Tänak, another former M-Sport driver, emphasized the need for fresh perspectives in advancing the sport, indicating his support for Wilson’s candidacy.

Wilson, set to succeed Robert Reid as the FIA’s deputy president, has garnered widespread support for his multifaceted expertise and track record in the industry. With his nomination pending final approval at an upcoming FIA meeting in Macau, the motorsport community eagerly anticipates the potential positive impact Wilson could bring to the sport’s governance and development.
