Christian Horner’s story turned the Formula 1 press conference at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix into a solo performance. One week after Red Bull’s investigation cleared him of accusations related to his behavior towards a staff member, the consequences continue to dominate discussions in F1. During the press conference, most questions were directed at Horner, focusing on the lack of transparency, the impact of the investigation, the status of the accuser, and the consequences between Horner and Jos Verstappen. Horner’s main message was that it’s time to move on, but the situation is not as simple. His handling of the press conference was occasionally tense and he may have revealed more than he intended in his answers. He emphasized that the focus should be on the basics: the race, the drivers, and the cars. However, the spotlight remains on the controversy and will only shift if Red Bull provides more transparency or if new information emerges. While an investigation was ongoing, those involved, fans, and media in F1 are dissatisfied with relying solely on trust. Red Bull did not disclose the reasons for the accuser’s dismissal, the identity of the investigator, or the conclusions. Additionally, the accuser was suspended without a public explanation. Horner cited confidentiality as the reason for not commenting on the matter, but many believe that more information should be shared to address the speculations and damages caused by secrecy. Horner also mentioned that the attention to this issue has affected his family and suggested that others in F1 are trying to take advantage of the situation. He emphasized the professional manner in which Red Bull handled the complaint and stated that it’s time to move on. However, leaks and subsequent media coverage have complicated things. Horner wants to shift the focus back to the race, but there are still questions about the leaks and whether there is a campaign against him. Despite divisions within the organization, Horner stated that Red Bull is united as a team. He acknowledged Jos Verstappen’s comments, but stated that the focus is on the future. Horner also expressed confidence that Max Verstappen will fulfill his contract until 2028 and made no further comments on Jos’s involvement. Overall, it is unlikely that the situation will be resolved without additional complications arising.
