Há uma nova marca chinesa a caminho da Europa

Nio announced that it has postponed the launch of its new sub-brand, Firefly, in Europe to the third quarter of 2025, after initially planning to launch it in the first half of the year.

The Chinese brand introduced its new sub-brand in December 2024 and quickly announced that the new electric models would be coming to Europe. However, Nio’s expansion in Europe has been slower than expected due to sales challenges and the service network, said Nio CEO William Li to reporters at an event before the Shanghai Auto Show, which takes place from April 23 to May 2.

Firefly is the name of Nio’s new brand and its first model, a compact electric hatchback aimed at young drivers, which hit the Chinese market in early April and aims to compete with the BYD Dolphin, as well as the VW ID.3 and the Smart #1.

It is already known that the Firefly EV is equipped with a single electric motor, manufactured by Nio Technology, located on the rear axle and capable of generating a maximum power of 141 hp. This e-motor is powered by an LFP battery manufactured by Sunwoda, with the capacity not disclosed, although a range of up to 225 km WLTP has been announced with the battery charged to 75%.

Other highlights of the Firefly, the name of Nio’s new brand and its first model, include a trunk with a capacity of 1250 liters, along with a front “frunk” with 92 liters, rear seats that fold down, autonomous parking that utilizes technology developed by Nio, a turning radius of 4.7 meters, 18-inch wheels, and a weight slightly below 1,500 kg.
