The American electric vehicle brand, Tesla, has just launched a two-seater Model Y for the French market, taking advantage of the fact that the country has specific tax laws for four-seater and two-seater models.
In this way, the Model Y for the French market has only 2 seats and a cargo capacity of 2158 liters, offering a range of up to 565 km. Without the rear seat, the model is eligible for commercial vehicle taxation.
The head of Tesla France, Clement Maguet, has stated that this new version of the Model Y is aimed at a market segment where there are around 6.3 million utility vehicles, most of them diesel-powered.
“This ecological and efficient solution offers an additional alternative for professional mobility, whether for transporting goods or as an intervention vehicle,” highlighted Clement Maguet via LinkedIn.
It is worth noting that in France, most vehicles are subject to a 20% tax, with the exception of two or three-seater models, which allows companies to save thousands of euros.
The situation is thus taken advantage of by several brands to launch some of their four-seater models as two-seater utilities and thus bypass the weight of taxation.
