Lewis Hamilton left disappointed after Jeddah FP2: “Struggling to break into top 10”

The seven-time world champion, Lewis Hamilton, did not hide his frustration after the second practice session in Jeddah. Hamilton, hoping to improve his performance with the Ferrari SF-25 after a shaky start to the season, found himself struggling and only managed to secure the 13th position on the leaderboard, over a second behind the day’s leader, Lando Norris. The British driver, using the Soft compound, failed to showcase his best performance, leading to a visibly disheartened Hamilton expressing his goal for tomorrow’s qualifiers to break into the top 10.

In a post-FP2 interview in Jeddah, Hamilton shared his disappointment, stating, “Today didn’t go as planned. I think getting the tires to work was really tricky for me. We just struggled to get the tires to work properly. Usually, on Saturdays, I’m always going backwards, but this time, there’s not much further back I can go from my current position,” he sarcastically remarked. Hamilton acknowledged the need for significant improvements before the next day’s qualifiers, highlighting his struggle to find the right feeling with the Soft tires. He emphasized the necessity for adjustments overnight, hoping for a better outcome the following day.

Hamilton disclosed that different work strategies were executed on the cars of Charles Leclerc and himself at Ferrari. He explained, “We’ll work tonight to see. We’re trying different things on the two cars, then we’ll converge on the choice. For example, settings on the wings and things like that. So, I hope that tomorrow we’ll have a better understanding after tonight’s analysis.” However, Hamilton’s primary focus ahead of the Saudi Arabian GP qualifiers is to achieve the bare minimum: “I’m just trying to see if I can break into the top 10 at the moment,” concluded the Ferrari driver.
