VIDEO – Genesis Unleashes Hypercar Power: Engine Roars to Life Amidst Striking Livery Revelation

Genesis Magma Racing ignites the racing world with the roar of their GMR-001 LMDh car’s engine, marking a pivotal moment in their journey towards the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship Hypercar class debut. The team recently unveiled a striking red and orange Hypercar powered by a formidable 3.2L twin-turbo V8 engine, tracing its roots back to the Hyundai World Rally Championship engine.

Under the hood, the Genesis powerhouse boasts an innovative powertrain, drawing inspiration from the WRC inline four-cylinder motor and sharing up to 60% of its components to craft an eight-cylinder internal combustion engine (ICE). Partnering with Oreca for chassis development, the ICE will seamlessly integrate with LMDh specification Bosch electric hybrid technology, culminating in a cutting-edge hybrid petrol-electric powertrain.

Hyundai Motorsport’s technical director, Francois-Xavier Demaison, lauded the I4 engine’s sophistication and efficiency, emphasizing its prowess as a solid foundation for WEC engine development. He highlighted the engine’s proven track record in endurance racing, making it a natural fit for the demanding 24 Hours of Le Mans.

The meticulous design process of the engine commenced in June 2024 and was finalized four months later, with the first engine assembly completed in early 2025, paving the way for the recent engine start-up. This crucial milestone signifies Genesis Magma Racing’s unwavering commitment to meticulous preparation for their highly anticipated Hypercar class debut.

As the racing world eagerly anticipates the team’s inaugural appearance in the FIA World Endurance Championship, Genesis Magma Racing’s engine start-up heralds the dawn of a new era in motorsport excellence, setting the stage for a thrilling and fiercely competitive season ahead.
