Red Bull in Crisis: Martin Brundle Predicts Stormy Waters Ahead

The aftermath of a disappointing performance at the Bahrain International Circuit has left Red Bull Racing in disarray, prompting former F1 driver Martin Brundle to predict “heavy conversations” within the team. Despite Max Verstappen’s recent triumph in Japan, the reigning World Champion struggled in Bahrain, facing issues with brakes and balance that hindered his pace and led to disastrous pit stops during the race.

Verstappen, who finished a distant sixth behind McLaren’s Oscar Piastri, expressed his frustration as Red Bull failed to live up to expectations. Yuki Tsunoda, on the other hand, managed to secure a ninth-place finish, salvaging some points for the team. However, the underwhelming performance following their victory in Japan has raised concerns within Red Bull’s camp.

Team advisor Helmut Marko labeled the situation as “very alarming,” emphasizing the urgent need for improved performance and operational standards, particularly in pit stops. A post-race meeting involving key team members was held immediately to address the issues, but Brundle anticipates that more intense discussions will follow in the coming days.

As the F1 2025 season unfolds, Verstappen finds himself trailing in the Drivers’ Championship, with McLaren’s Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri leading the charge. Despite his two podium finishes and 69 points, the Dutch driver is apprehensive about his chances of securing a fifth World Championship title, conceding that McLaren is currently outperforming Red Bull.

With the team’s championship aspirations hanging in the balance, Red Bull faces a crucial juncture in the season. As tensions rise and expectations mount, the pressure is on for Red Bull to address their shortcomings and regain their competitive edge before it’s too late.
