Pirelli Unleashes Soft Compound Surprise at Gedda: Revving Up F1 Drama!

The FIA and Pirelli have taken proactive steps to prevent a repeat of last year’s tyre fiasco

Get ready for a thrilling race weekend in Jeddah as Pirelli introduces new soft compounds for the upcoming event. The Grand Prix in Saudi Arabia promises excitement and unpredictability on the fast city circuit.

Jeddah, a bustling port city on the Red Sea coast, sets the stage for the final leg of the 2025 Asian triple-header. Known for its modern waterfront and historic Al-Balad district, Jeddah welcomes Formula 1 for the first time in April, offering different weather conditions that could spice up the competition.

Pirelli shakes things up for the fifth race of the season by bringing softer tire options to Jeddah. The tire selection will include the C3 as Hard, C4 as Medium, and C5 as Soft compounds, aiming to provide more strategic choices for teams and increase the on-track spectacle. In previous editions, single pit stops have been the norm, but the tire supplier’s new approach could lead to varied strategies and more overtaking opportunities.

The Jeddah circuit, spanning 6.174 kilometers, stands out as one of the fastest tracks on the calendar with drivers spending about 80% of the lap at full throttle. Despite its twisty nature with 27 corners, including 16 left-handers and 11 right-handers, overtaking remains a challenge due to limited heavy braking zones.

With moderate asphalt roughness and significant lateral forces acting on the tires, the track may witness graining, especially in the early practice sessions when the surface is dirty. However, as the weekend progresses with multiple support races, track conditions are expected to improve, reducing the graining effect.

As teams adapt to the softer tire compounds, the strategic evolution throughout the race weekend will be a key factor to watch out for in Jeddah. Get ready for high-speed action and strategic battles under the Saudi Arabian sun as Formula 1 gears up for an adrenaline-pumping Grand Prix in Jeddah.
