Rising Star in IndyCar : Christian Lundgaard fait des vagues
In a thrilling start to the NTT IndyCar Series season, Christian Lundgaard of Arrow McLaren is emerging as a dark horse to watch out for. Malgré seulement trois courses dans la campagne, Lundgaard a silencieusement gravi les échelons et s’est fait un nom sur la piste.
Securing a remarkable third-place finish at the 50th Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach, Lundgaard claimed his second consecutive podium, propelling him to third place in the overall standings. Speaking about his strategy during the race, Lundgaard reflected, « We went off strategy compared to what we expected most of the field to do. We were the first primary tire runner in the field. I think that showed that we had the pace, too, today. I think we made up a lot of pace on those pit cycles. The clean air, took advantage of the clear air. »
Le jeune pilote a exprimé sa gratitude envers son équipe pour leur travail acharné, déclarant : « Really happy to reward the guys. Yeah, they had to bring a new car back into play, the old lady, as they called her. We took the car in qualifying yesterday. So for everybody to rebuild a car and put it out on track this morning, she ran effortless today. I’m extremely happy for everybody. »
Lundgaard’s strong start to the season was no coincidence, as he emphasized the importance of beginning on a high note with McLaren. « I was very vocal in the off-season that I wanted to get off to a strong start with Arrow McLaren. I think we’ve clearly done that, » he remarked. « I’ve never been higher in the championship than where I am now. We’ve done a good job. »
Avec un mélange de confiance et d’ambition, Lundgaard a reconnu la concurrence, en faisant particulièrement référence aux podiums constants d’Alex Palou. Il a déclaré : « Deux podiums consécutifs, contrairement à ce gars (Alex Palou) qui décide soit de gagner, soit de finir deuxième à chaque course. Mais nous allons le battre un jour, je l’espère. »
