Red Bull Pitstop Nightmare Unveiled by Christian Horner

Red Bull’s pit crew faced a series of mishaps during the recent Bahrain Grand Prix, leaving team principal Christian Horner to shed light on the root cause of their pitstop horrors. The troubles began when Max Verstappen encountered a slow stop due to a malfunctioning red light on the pit gantry, which failed to signal the completion of the pit stop, forcing Verstappen to rejoin the race in 17th place on hard tires.

The woes continued for Red Bull as Verstappen’s teammate, Yuki Tsunoda, also experienced similar issues during his first pit stop, leading to frustration as Tsunoda exclaimed over the radio, “Yellow was flashing, man. Oh my god!”

Horner, in discussions with Motorsport.com and other media post-race, revealed the underlying issues plaguing the team, citing a braking problem and an imbalance as contributing factors to the pitstop blunders. Moreover, a wiring loom glitch in the pit gantry further exacerbated the situation, causing a malfunction in the traffic light system.

Despite the setbacks, Horner commended the team for salvaging a 6th place finish and minimizing the points deficit to their rivals. Looking ahead to the upcoming race in Jeddah, Horner emphasized the need to address and rectify the issues faced in Bahrain.

Addressing the technical malfunction, Horner expressed the team’s intention to investigate the matter thoroughly, highlighting an unexpected wiring or electrical problem with the pit gantry. He emphasized the critical role of the traffic lights in guiding the drivers during pit stops and assured that corrective measures would be implemented to prevent a recurrence of the mishap.

When pressed on the adjustments made to prevent similar incidents in future races, Horner explained the immediate actions taken following the pitstop blunders. Implementing a manual override on the system, the team resorted to a hands-on approach to ensure seamless pit stops for their drivers.

As Red Bull regroups and prepares for the challenges ahead, all eyes will be on the team to see if they can overcome these setbacks and emerge stronger in the upcoming races.
