F1 Star Slapped with Hefty Fine at Bahrain GP for Reckless Incident with Teammate

In a shocking turn of events at the Bahrain Grand Prix, F1 driver Alex Albon has been handed a substantial fine for a controversial incident involving his teammate during the first practice session. The Williams driver was found guilty by the FIA stewards of obstructing another driver on the track, who happened to be his own teammate, Luke Browning, rather than Carlos Sainz as one might expect.

The rookie driver, Browning, who was filling in for the session to comply with new FIA regulations, outperformed expectations by setting the fastest time among the six substitute drivers, even surpassing drivers from top teams like Ferrari, Red Bull, and Mercedes.

Albon was fined a staggering €7,500 for the incident, which caught the attention of Aston Martin reserve driver Felipe Drugovich, who exclaimed “Wowch! That was close,” over team radio as he witnessed the risky maneuver unfold on the track.

The stewards’ report highlighted the dangerous nature of the incident, noting the high-speed differential between the cars involved and the potential severity of the situation. Albon defended himself by claiming he had not seen Browning approaching in his mirrors due to the speed and angle of the car, further exacerbated by the presence of another car on the track.

Despite his impressive performance so far this season, earning 18 out of Williams’ 19 total points, this misstep marks one of the few errors Albon has made in his races. In contrast, his teammate Sainz has struggled to secure points, facing challenges with both performance and luck on the track.

Furthermore, the Racing Bulls team seems to have overtaken Williams as the fifth-fastest team on the grid, with Isack Hadjar showcasing strong form in the recent races, raising the competitive stakes in the midfield battle.

Stay tuned for more updates on the F1 drama unfolding at the Bahrain Grand Prix as the drivers gear up for a thrilling weekend of racing action.
