In a jaw-dropping turn of events at the Qatar Grand Prix, Franco Morbidelli stole the spotlight from the MotoGP title contenders during the second Friday practice session. The Italian rider outshined the likes of Marc Marquez and Pecco Bagnaia, setting an impressive lap time that left his competitors in the dust.

Despite a strong showing from Marquez and Bagnaia, it was Morbidelli who ultimately dominated the session with a blistering 1m50.830s lap – a time that nearly broke the premier-class record at Lusail. Bagnaia trailed closely behind, followed by Marquez, forming an all-Ducati top three.

Notably, Fabio Di Giannantonio and championship leader Alex Marquez secured spots in the top five, further solidifying Ducati’s prowess on the track. The Ducati onslaught continued with Fermin Aldeguer clinching a place in Q2, highlighting the manufacturer’s dominance in the early stages of the Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, other manufacturers struggled to keep up, with only KTM managing to break into the top positions thanks to Pedro Acosta and Maverick Vinales. Yamaha’s hopes were kept alive by Johann Zarco and Fabio Quartararo, who managed to secure spots in tomorrow’s pole shoot-out.

As the session unfolded, drama ensued with multiple crashes marring the track. Jack Miller suffered two accidents, compromising his chances of a top-10 finish, while his teammate Augusto Fernandez and LCR Honda rookie Somkiat Chantra also found themselves in the gravel.

With the competition heating up and tensions running high, all eyes are on the upcoming qualifying sessions to see who will emerge victorious in the desert battleground. Stay tuned for more thrilling updates from the Qatar Grand Prix as the race weekend unfolds.
